How I compare AdSense to a Money Plant!

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

Yes, AdSense is like a money plant. But it does require your hardwork to plant it and cultivate it. You need to take care of the plant so that it never dries and dies off.

I do not want to brag about how to increase your earnings and all. There are thousands of such guides available in the net. All you need to do it is google for it.

This article will tell about few things that you will have to consider about your AdSense account. And most things are for new users:

Disable Horizontal ScrollBar in IE

Friday, July 25th, 2008

Last night, I was working on a template for a new bulletin board software. Well the bulletin board is being developed by my friend. And am taking designing part of it. Let the software and person be forbidden. While designing the homepage, we noticed horizontal scrollbar in IE 6 & 7 @ low resolutions. So he informed me regarding that.

And I thought of using javascript in the beginning, but he argued not to do that, because the reason is simple. Not everyone’s browser will have javascript installed/enabled. So I remembered a small CSS code, which can do the job. Then, we solved the problem.

So, I thought of writing a small tutorial which teaches about disable or removing unwanted horizontal scrollbar in IE6 / IE7 without using any javascripts.

How to make a wordpress theme “Gravatar Ready”

Friday, July 11th, 2008

I’ll begin with a short intro for those who don’t know what gravatar is. If you already know what gravatar is, skip to Process.

Gravatar is a small image or a picture that is used for your identification whenever you comment on others or in your blog which you have uploaded at Gravatar.com for a particular email.

Gravatars is a inbuilt feature of wordpress 2.5.1 and it works out-of-the-box. i.e without any plugins. But theme which you are using for your blog must be gravatar ready. Most of latest sports gravatars, but there are still designers who are neglecting to do add the feature. And if you are using a old theme, then you will have to work on it in order to make gravatar ready. I’ll tell you how to do it here in this tutorial. Please keep in your mind that your wordpress should be 2.5 and above otherwise you may require gravatar plugin.

Flickr, flicked me down!!

flickr

No, i’m not talking about the slang word “Flick”, but just using that word because flickr did something bad to me thinking that I’ve done bad to it :p

I used to upload all my screenshots, images, photos and whatever to share it online with friends and to use it on my websites, blogs in tutorials and reviews etc. But flickr says it is against the terms & conditions to upload images or photos that doesn’t belong to me :|

Now I wonder why my screenshots doesn’t belong to me.

Anyway as a result all the images I published in my sites and blogs went blank which says “The current photo is not available”!! And when I try to login to my flickr account it says my account is no longer active!!

I’m still in process of updating all my tutorials, reviews and photos where ever I posted it. Well not again with another flickr account, now I’ve switched to photobucket or imageshack :p

So the moral of the story is, if you are doing the same, then stop it and switch some other image hosting sites before all your images goes white.

This thing happened to me about a month ago, but posting it now coz of some busy life. So please apologize me if any inconvenience is caused if any images are not appearing in any tutorials or wherever. I will try to fix it ASAP.

Later..
