Bought Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop 1000!

Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop 1000

Sorry for not posting lately. I was quite busy with my real life rituals.

Anyway, I bought a new wireless combo for my desktop today and thought of blogging it. I am not interested in writing any reviews for this thing, coz there are already enough reviews available on this particular model. But yet, I like to post my user experience as of now. This is entry level wireless combo that most people can afford easily. In fact, it’s much more than a entry level combo. There are plenty of features that will sure impress you.

I bought this combo for 1,850 Rs (including tax) here in Bangalore at S.P Road.

So far so good, I am having a good experience. The ergonomics is really good. The mouse is bit large compared to my old Wired 500. It is large coz it houses two AA batteries inside it. It’s also heavy coz of the same reason, but you won’t find any issues with the weight, because it is large and fits in your palm very comfortably.

7300GT – Added some extra power!

Santhosh

Funky title isn’t it? Well yes, but its true coz I had nVidia MX 400 64 MB DDR1 64Bit AGP 4X Graphic card so far and I was able to do ‘a lot’ and play NFS UG2 at 1024 x 768 x 32 at full throttle (at medium quality, though). And now my brand new nVidia GeForce 7300GT 512 MB DDR2 128 Bit AGP 8X Graphic card will obliviously to much more things easily. Sorry for those long specifications :p

I had no plans to buy this card, coz I’m not a gamer (am a casual gamer). But, I was planning to buy a Samsung 2243 NWX 22” Widescreen LCD monitor next month and I came to know that my old MX 400 gfx card cannot support the resolution of 1680 x 1050 which the monitor sports. So I googled around and found that 6600GT will support the resolution, but it was too old and opted for 7300GT, which supports as well. The good thing with this card is that it has 512 MB onboard memory and Shader Model 3.0 which does a very good job while using Aero on vista or while playing few games such has NFS MW. And yes I can play NFS MW at 1024 x 768 x 32 at all eye candies turned on. I don’t have a high-end computer coz I mentioned you earlier (am not a gamer). The current configuration I have is P4 3.06 GHz CPU with 768 MB DDR 400 MHz RAM. This is more than enough for me to run Photoshop CS3, Fireworks CS3 and Dreamweaver CS3 without any glitch.

I am a web designer, so I don’t need much hardware horse power. The reason why I posted is that, if any web designer or someone who is willing to become a web designer and has low end PC, just upgrade or add a graphic card such as 7300GT without upgrading the entire rig and burning a hole in your or dad’s pocket. Being a web designer, display is the most important thing that you will have to consider a lot. Calibrate your monitor to best contrast and brightness. I will recommend a widescreen monitor, because you can see more and do more. And it will give enough room in the taskbar for all your applications so you can switch them easily. I will buy the monitor in july first week and will post the review (if not just an brief info) and do let you know my experiences.

And, I bought this card from my first own earning ever and am really feeling happy about it. Since I spent all my first month’s earnings on my family and friends, I could only buy this card which is priced at ~ $95 USD. I will spend this month’s earnings to buy the monitor ;)

7300GT really added some extra horse power to my computer and made my work easy :)

CSS Portal.com - Review

Santhosh

Before getting started, I would like to say that this is a “Short Review” of a new website of one my friend and the one who sponsored few of my wordpress themes.

Myself being a web designer, I love CSS and will always keep learning new things. CSS sounds kinda complicated, but when you start learning it you will come to know that it is just a jigsaw puzzle. All you need to do is plan the layout of your template or theme whatsoever and then slice & combine them if it is PSD or just combine them if you had created those pieces individually (which I do).

Well, if this is the first time you are reading about CSS and wondering what it is, you may read this wiki article.

Things you can do in CSS will sound very limited in the beginning, but as the time passes you will start doing new things which will amaze yourself. There are many myths that says CSS is very limited, but not when you see a site called “CSS Play” - Well that is way too professional work that can be done and achieved from CSS.

To learn CSS there are many sites, such as w3schools . After learning CSS, you can create your own templates and themes and then submit to many sites for free or you may sell it. But its good if you begin by submitting your theme as a Open Source Templates so that you will come to know whether people really like your work or not. There are many such sites available to submit your open source templates among which OSWD is popular. Since it is popular, there is very less chances that your template will be published soon. So I prefer “Open Designs“. You can see some of my web templates here. By the way, sorry for too links, but I have to. So now you came to know things about CSS (not the code, though).

As the title of this post says, CSS Portal is a website, which has many things! (so called “Portal”) where you can learn CSS and create your own themes and after doing that you can submit it to the same site! And whats more, he has another site called “Generate it“, which is easy to use and add new jazzy stuffs to your template easily such as buttons and reflection etc. And soon after you start designing, you may gain popularity and will wish to have your own website to showcase your work to the mass. To do that, you will need to buy a webspace and a domain name. You can buy those two from a web hosting service providers. There are thousands of such web hosting companies and you will be throne into dilemma. So the CSS Portal also has a site, that will help you decide and make your deal easy. eHost Info is their site which has reviews and a directory of many web hosting providers.

So the conclusion is, CSS Portal is a website where you can actually “learn” many things and finally get into the world of web designing and eventually you can make money out of it!
