Flickr, flicked me down!!

Santhosh

flickr

No, i’m not talking about the slang word “Flick”, but just using that word because flickr did something bad to me thinking that I’ve done bad to it :p

I used to upload all my screenshots, images, photos and whatever to share it online with friends and to use it on my websites, blogs in tutorials and reviews etc. But flickr says it is against the terms & conditions to upload images or photos that doesn’t belong to me :|

Now I wonder why my screenshots doesn’t belong to me.

Anyway as a result all the images I published in my sites and blogs went blank which says “The current photo is not available”!! And when I try to login to my flickr account it says my account is no longer active!!

I’m still in process of updating all my tutorials, reviews and photos where ever I posted it. Well not again with another flickr account, now I’ve switched to photobucket or imageshack :p

So the moral of the story is, if you are doing the same, then stop it and switch some other image hosting sites before all your images goes white.

This thing happened to me about a month ago, but posting it now coz of some busy life. So please apologize me if any inconvenience is caused if any images are not appearing in any tutorials or wherever. I will try to fix it ASAP.

BSNL EVDO CLUB

Santhosh

I was one among the first to grab the BSNL’s EVDO back in September 2007.

After a month long of usage, I decided to write up a review in my old blog. Now the old blog doesn’t exist. The review which I wrote in late October 2007 made my blog much more popular. I saw people visiting my blog to read and the review and get the information. The comments were flooded and my blog almost turned into a discussion forum by the end of December 2007.

In January 2008, I bought ThemeBin.com and created a sub-domain as bsnlevdo.themebin.com and moved my review there with added discussion forum. The forum was a hit and attracted people and they found it very useful. And finally, the user database has been increasing considerably high. So I decided to move the site to a main domain and bought www.bsnlevdoclub.com. And moved the forum to www.bsnlevdoclub.com/forum yesterday.

Now the homepage uses wordpress for easy content management and with very minimum ads. I believe, I’m doing my best to broadcast the information about the BSNL’s one mighty little device.

Visit the hompage at: www.bsnlevdoclub.com and the forum at www.bsnlevdoclub.com/forum.

Microsoft.com v/s Apple.com

Santhosh

apple vs microsoft

First things first. This post will no where relate to OS war, its just a homepage war of two giants.

Most of the web designers will work like a donkey to make sure their web template or the blogging themes are w3c Compliant. Yet most web designers will fail to get it valid.

But here the two giants has a massive bunch of people working for their company day and night, but yet they have failed in creating a w3c compliant WebPages (HTML). At least, they could’ve made their homepages valid. :p (No offense meant).

Here are the results of the validation from w3c validation.

Number of errors in www.apple.com : 10
Number of errors in http://www.microsoft.com/en/us/default.aspx: 27

Validation result pages: Apple.com & Microsoft.com

Note: Do remember that the number of errors keeps changing, because those people keep updating their homepages every now and then.

And the results of few other popular website:

en.wikipedia.org | Errors: 0

Wordpress.org | Errors: 2

Yahoo.com | Errors: 34

Intel.com | Errors: 50

Ubuntu.com | Errors: 54

Oh, I for our favorite site:
thinkdigit.com | Errors: 178 + (no Doctype found)!

Damn, I also forgot to give the verdict between apple.com and Microsoft.com.

Verdict:
And the winner is, Apple.com :p

A woman used 40Gbps internet connection to dry laundry!

Santhosh

Huh, hope everyone knows why we need Internet and the fastest. We want high speed broadband to browse seamlessly, download big files, to share files, to get knowledge, to find something or if not for watching youtube videos without any glitch.

But fellas, believe it or not,  someone called swede used 40 Gbps Internet Connection to dry her laundry!

Here’s an excerpt taken from engadget:

Chances are, you could think of a million and one ways to totally take advantage of having a 40Gbps internet connection installed in your abode, but for one Sigbritt Löthberg — who actually had such a setup — she chose to take advantage of it in quite a perplexing way. Reportedly, the 75-year old dame wasn’t too interested in downloading an entire HD film in two seconds or having ping times more minuscule than the brain can fathom; rather, she chose to use the excess heat emitted from all the kit shoved in her house to “dry her laundry.” Unfortunately, the poor lady has had the gear removed from her domicile for further testing in another location, but according to Hafsteinn Jonsson, who is heading up the fiber network operation for Karlstad Stadsnät, they’re considering “giving her a 100Gbps [link] in the summer — then she’ll be able to dry all her neighbors’ laundry too.”

Crazy right ?

Satellite ‘the size of a bus’ could crash to Earth

Santhosh

A large spy satellite is out of control and could crash to Earth in the next few weeks, a US government official has warned.

The satellite could land anywhere on the planet and may contain hazardous materials, the unnamed source told the AP news wire.
The satellite is the size of a small bus

It is understood that American politicians and world leaders are being kept abreast of the situation.

In response to the reports Gordon Johndroe, a spokesman for the National Security Council, said: “Appropriate government agencies are monitoring the situation.

“Numerous satellites over the years have come out of orbit and fallen harmlessly. We are looking at potential options to mitigate any possible damage this satellite may cause.”

He refused to discuss specifics, such as whether the satellite might be destroyed with a missile. But such a move is considered unlikely by experts as it would create a rain of debris which could cause more widespread damage.

While the US government is yet to release any information about the craft, John Pike of the defence research group GlobalSecurity.org said that it is most likely a photo-reconnaissance satellite, weighing as much as 20,000lb (9,000kg) and the size of a bus.

It is believed to contain hydrazine, a common rocket fuel, which is hazardous to humans.

This would not be the first time a large man-made satellite has de-powered and crashed uncontrollably into the atmosphere. The largest was in 1979, when Skylab, a 78-ton abandoned space station, lost control and fell from orbit.

It fell apart on re-entry, with the debris crashing harmlessly into the Indian Ocean and across an uninhabited part of Western Australia.
